28:38 My fadder got chains

Growing up in a rougher part of St. John's, Vickie recalls fighting on a different level. It was often about  how tough your dad was and whether or not he had the dreaded chains. No one has ever seen chains but it was a common threat on The Block to call in the help of someone's dad who had chains.

37:46 Journaling

In this episode of Are You Mad At Me?, the hosts share some practical advice for the New Year, especially for those already struggling with their resolutions. If you're feeling like you've already broken your resolution, the suggestion is to aim for a fresh start in February.

One impactful tip is to begin journaling as a way to clear your mind and boost mental well-being. Inspired by Julia Cameron’s The Artist's Way, the host emphasizes writing three pages every day as a method to unlock creativity and gain clarity. The act of journaling, with no pressure to make it perfect, can serve as a healthy mental exercise. Plus, the process helps to focus on your thoughts without overthinking.

To dive deeper into the power of journaling and creative expression, tune into the Are You Mad At Me? podcast for more insights and discussions. Start your journaling journey today—it's a great way to reflect, create, and reset your mind in February!

43:29 Last semester

Josh is in his final semester of graphic design and Vickie plans to catch up on Show Notes for the podcast while he's at school. When are you reading these words? Let her know it's never too late in the comments!

46:30 Sharing with strangers

The mantra for Are You Mad At Me? for 2025 is "Let's try our luck with strangers." One of the biggest mistakes self published authors, entrepreneurs and podcasters make is they share their work with family and friends and take it personally when it isn't met with resounding support.

People have their own stuff going on and they know a certain version of you. If you've changed or upgraded or improved or have reinvented  yourself for the thousandth time, surround yourself with love and support. Know your worth. There's a whole universe out there waiting to meet you!

1:03:38 Are You Mad at Me?

In this segment, the hosts discuss the courageous act of self acceptance and vulnerability. After posting a photo of herself (taken by her husband) in the seventh attempt at a homemade Old Navy Oxford-type shirt revealing her stretch marks and "mom pouch" Vickie received unexpected backlash from family members. Despite this, the host emphasizes the importance of embracing imperfections and using social media as a space for connection and self expression.

The picture also brought messages of support from other moms who felt more empowered and less alone, challenging societal expectations and toxic beliefs about women's bodies.

The conversation also touches on the negative effects of gossip, toxic family dynamics and the limiting beliefs that often surround body shaming. This episode is a powerful reminder to embrace one’s authentic self and to tune out toxic opinions in order to cultivate a healthier relationship with oneself and others.

1:14:20 Ted Lasso

Vickie and Josh started watching Ted Lasso after hearing the hosts on Nateland rave about it and it does not disappoint! No spoilers please!

1:20:37 Homework

The hosts explore the concept of raising your vibration and taking control of your frequency, emphasizing how our thoughts and choices directly impact our manifestation abilities. They discuss how your energy, reflected through what you consume— like TV shows, music, or even self talk —can serve as a tool to check in with your emotional state and shift your mindset.

Journaling, in particular, is highlighted as a powerful tool to identify negative patterns, challenge limiting beliefs and transform self-sabotaging thoughts into actions that elevate self-esteem and confidence.

They also delve into the importance of self care and being present in the moment to fully harness the power of the Law of Attraction. The hosts encourage listeners to engage in practices like affirmations and mirror work, where saying positive things to yourself can create a significant shift in how you perceive your reality. By embracing the present moment, letting go of fear and cultivating gratitude for being alive, individuals can manifest positive changes in their lives. The episode serves as a reminder that you have the power to raise your vibration, change your frequency and manifest the life you desire by taking intentional steps toward self love, care and positive action.
